Abstract

The post-operative morbidity and mortality rates are increased by the systemic effects of hyperbilirubinemia. The method of temporary transhepatic biliary drainage as a preoperative measure in jaundiced patients with biliary obstruction prior to surgical intervention has been recommended by many authors.
