Abstract
AIM: Three-hundred patient with breast cancer undergoing conservative surgery plus radiotherapy were evaluated retrospectively for the factors causing local recurrence. MATERIAL and METHOD: Patient data were evaluated retrospectively in the regard of age, menauposal status, surgical techngque of conservation,y surgical margin status, extensive intraductal component (EIC), histologic type of tumour, TNM staging and adjuvant therapies all patients were observed between 2-84 months (median 33.7) months) RESULTS: The rate of local recurrence was 4.9 percent in stage I (61 patients), 5.7 percent in stage II (157 patients), 15.7 percent in stage III (70 patients) and 25 percent in stage IV (12 patients). CONCLUSION: Age, menauposal status, surgical tehnique, histologic type of tumor, had no the significant role in the risk of local recurrence. Surgical margin, Extentisive intraductal companend (EIC) and advanced stage (III-IV) had a statistically significant risk for local recurrence.
