Abstract
OBJECTIVE
Hiatal hernia is an uncommon disorder of childhood caused by developmental defect of diaphragm.
METHODS
The patients can be asymptomatic; however, respiratory and gastrointestinal system findings, and anemia may be develop.
RESULTS
In this paper, a two-year-old hiatal hernia case was presented whose admission findings were; weak peripheral pulses, capillary refilltime longer than 2 sec, cardiac pulse 168/min and rhythmic, blood pressure 70/50. Laboratory analysis revealed severe iron deficiency anemia, and a diagnosis of hiatal hernia was made with an incidentally detected over diaphragmatic free air on chest radiograph.
CONCLUSION
With this case, it was emphasized that in patients with shock clinic, hiatal hernia and gastrointestinal disease has to keep in mind for differential diagnosis.
